Web-based information system for transportation company

The client is an international courier, package delivery, and express mail service, which is a division of the German logistics firm. They needed a solution, that would enable them to leverage and optimize their logistics and transportation processes.

Bearing in mind the crucial requirements for the set task, SMISS created a web-based information system for the management of the transportation of goods. The system allows the company to place orders, route them through the full delivery process, monitor its state at any point.

It includes the following functionalities:

  • organization of delivery starting from the order placement and ending with the delivery to the store
  • import of orders from EDIFACT, XLS, XML, from desktop and from FTP
  • grouping of orders into shipments, and shipments into containers
  • integration with external systems: import of updates, export of the current state
  • customizable mail notifications
  • over dozen of customizable reports
  • management of users with the various permission restrictions
  • management of suppliers, transports, carriers, airlines, ports, lead times, terminals, etc.
